Ziqing arrives at the island, but the soldiers attempt to prevent her entry due to the lack of a token. She manages to bribe the soldiers, and her son-in-law arrives shortly after. The island hunters then make their appearance. Following a verbal confrontation, Ziqing gains entry to the manor, and the island hunters are set free.
Ziqing’s arrival caused Mrs. Lu anxiety, prompting her to order the release of Gu and Shadow. The children, intent on covering their tracks, are plotting harm against Gu and Shadow. Meanwhile, Mrs. Lu attempts to distract Ziqing with offers of tea, but she remains determined to see her husband first.
Meanwhile, swordsmen advance towards Gu and Shadow’s location. As they attempt to poison Gu, Shadow frees himself, and they set out to protect Bei Yue, who is in peril. Ziqing enters Bei Yue’s chamber, inquiring about Gu and Shadow’s whereabouts, while Mrs. Lu babbles incoherently.
Gu and Shadow barge in, and the story unfolds. Ziqing requests Mrs. Lu to look into the issue. The eldest daughter causes a commotion, prompting Ziqing to kick her. (This girl is always in the middle of action)
Gu is unable to comprehend why Bei Yue remains unconscious, and Ziqing speculates that the children must have done something to maintain his state. It appears that Bei Yue has been poisoned.
Master Lu has returned, seething with anger. He demands to know who orchestrated the attack on Gu and Shadow. He commands his eldest daughter and son-in-law to vacate the premises and instructs his younger daughter to inscribe the house rules a hundred times.
The elder daughter confronts Master Lu, revealing that Bei Yue, whose identity was kept secret for security reasons, is an illegitimate son, prompting Mrs. Lu to slap her immediately. Master Lu then yells at the children, warning them that he will be ruthless if they ever show disrespect to his guests.
Ziqing and Gu discuss Bei Yue’s convalescence when they detect footsteps on the roof. It turns out to be Weisheng, who asserts he can identify the poison afflicting Bei Yue. He provides a herb and a remedy to heal Bei Yue before hastily departing.
The son-in-law and daughter are seeking a method to ensure that Bei Yue remains asleep.
The herb appears to be effective; Bei Yue has been semi-conscious and is becoming aware of his surroundings. Ziqing wishes to keep his recovery a secret. Gu and Shadow are tasked with gathering more herbs. Ziqing speaks to him, pleading for him to awaken. She reminds him of his unfulfilled promise, to which he replies that she only thinks of that promise. She insists he repeat his words, and as he places his hand on her head, he awakens.
